Florida Tinting Laws - Explained by Swanky's Automotive Detailing

Mastering the rules of window tinting for the state of Florida is why we are known for helping customers get what their vehicle deserves. Much like every state, the window tint darkness is regulated by Visible Light Transmission (VLT) percentages, which vary based on the vehicle size. Likewise, window tint reflectiveness is also regulated by a percentage. For passenger vehicles, the front side windows must allow more than 28% of light in, while the back side and rear windows can have a tint of up to 15% VLT. For multi-purpose vehicles, such as SUVs and vans, the front side windows must also adhere to the minimum of 28% VLT, but the back side and rear windows need to have 6% VLT.

Florida’s regulation of the reflectiveness of your window tint film is precise as well, though Swanky's Automotive Detailing has that information covered for you. For both small and large vehicles, the tint on the front side windows should not be more than 25% reflective. Conversely, the back side windows must only be 35% reflective for all size vehicles. This regulation ensures that the tinting you choose is safe for both the driver and other road users, minimizing glare and maintaining clear visibility for all.

These legal requirements for window tinting can be complex, but they are important. Our team at Swanky's Automotive Detailing is here to help and have mastered everything about these rules of the road in Florida. Rest assured, all tinting services we offer meet Florida’s legal standards, providing you with peace of mind and compliance. Window Tinting FAQs - Answered

  • What are the benefits of tinting my vehicle's windows?

The advantages of our window tinting services cover a lot of bases, both aesthetic and in terms of vehicle protection. Being the fact that the primary benefit is for it to help reduce infrared heat build-up inside your vehicle, window tinting is a comfort enhancer. It also is known to effectively block a tremendous amount of harmful UV rays from entering your interior and affecting you and your passengers. Tinting also enhances interior privacy for what you drive. Additionally, tinting can improve the efficiency of your vehicle’s air conditioning and prevent unnecessary strain on it.

  • How long do I need to wait before rolling down my windows following tinting?

After Swanky's Automotive Detailing installs your window tint film package, it is crucial to allow it to cure properly. After that, you can resume normal operation of your vehicle’s driver and passenger side windows, including rolling them down. We recommend waiting at least three to four days before rolling down your windows to avoid any peeling. This period ensures the adhesive we use sets correctly, preventing peeling and ensuring longevity of the tint.

  • Does my vehicle qualify for window tinting services?

Absolutely! We offer various window tinting services for all types of vehicles, whether those are high-profile sports cars or daily drivers. So regardless of your vehicle's make or model, our expert team of tinting professionals can professionally apply any one of our window tint film packages to what you drive. During your appointment, we tailor the package you select to your vehicle’s exact specifications.
